Snapshot lines got you down? Elysium Eilde on youtube has the perfect fix for that! This might be old news to some of you pros out there but, since I’ve just recently heard of it excuse my exaggerated enthusiasm! But, for those of us who are familiar with those annoying lines and have been hunting for a solution, fear no more mi comprades! That solution has arrived! You will need;

( Step 1 ). Photoshop CS5 and older ( If you have an older version of CS that’s fine too, you’ll just need to take different steps which Elysium addresses towards the end of the video.)

( Step 2 ). Watch this video, “Second Life Snapshots – Those Pesky Lines! “ by Elysium Eilde. And, viola! Problem solved. :

Here’s a before and after of the results I got after following the instructions she’d given in the video. Practically seamless!.

 

Anyway, on to the look of today.It’s pretty much a combination of things I have worn in the past, mixed in with a few items I picked up from my last shopping trip. Also, I have treated the coloring in photoshop a little. So if you’re looking to play around with your snapshot’s coloring try some photoshop actions you can find on deviant art. You’ll need to install them into your version of photoshop so, here’s a mini tutorial I found via google to help you with that.

The hardest things are always said last… ( going on hiatus ).

As I push the 100 and something blog post threshold I feel myself losing interest. Perhaps it has a little to do with how hectic/busy my rl has gotten since this semester’s began. Like for example, I took pictures last week and I am not entirely satisfied with them but, I figured to achieve the ‘looks’ I want, I’d need to dedicate more time to the process… more time, which, I certainly don’t have.

So, what’s the basis of all this? Is it a subtle hint into the near future? Maybe… because, as it is this year will be an eventful one. I am graduating in the summer and making plans for grad school or pursuing a second degree. I’ll be leaning towards the latter but, I am certain my performance by the end of this semester will be the defining factor all around.

Oh, and not to mention, I’ll be moving in less than a month. Now, not to put my entire reallife out there because, I’ve always strived to maintain a certain amount of anonymity but, I think it is important everyone who cares understands the reasons behind my prolonged absences hence! the explanation…out of respect mostly… Because, I just think it’s rude to disappear without a word and not to the mention, the speculations that might arise as some people have no problem blatantly impersonating others ( e.g the never ending copybot crisis and the things in between) ~ of course, that’s another story for another blog post.

Anyway, I hope you’ve enjoyed my short ado about absences!. When I am officially back, you’ll be the first to know!

New year renovations and a shape!.

Windlight settings :: Place Astryls wild

So, I spontaneously decided to tweak up my mini shop, Jumphearts, for the new year. As far as I can remember the last time I had done any major renovation was at least 8 months ago? So, I got tired of staring at the same old stuff and decided to get to work. Oh my goodness! almost a hundred hours later and some suggestions from Daphne and Tobias over at [HANDverk] I came up with this; taaadddaaaaa!. What do you think? yay? or nay? here’s a TAXI if you wanna check it out!.

Yes, the image was treated in photoshop with this free background I found!

I found this gorgeous house at marketplace by Kessi Andretti creator behind Sweet Harmony. My parcel is on the low prim side so I had to compromise a lot and ended up modifying the house down to about 20 prims. Overall, I was going for simple look and I’m happy with the results. Besides, I go googoogahgah for shabby chic or vintage houses anyday!. Oh! While on the subject of houses check out these from Willow’s. I am not familiar with her designs but, ran across them after I had purchased my house from Sweet harmony already. Anyway, If you’re looking for extremely cheap ( I mean as low as 10L ),cute and low prim shabby chic houses Willow’s seems very promising!.

Anyway, here’s a shot of me grinning my head off after I had finished EVERYTHING!. Although there are still a few things I’d like to change I am pretty content with how it’s turned out.

Also, I finally went ahead and got one of PINKFUEL’s Elly skins. I had been obsessing over her lipgloss collection which you can’t buy individually! … I went ahead and invested in one of her skins. Surprisingly enough -or not- I fell in love with the skin and decided to whip up a shape!. So, here’s to shape 003! dedicated to Pinkfuel!. I hope you like it \o/ .

Look! guyssss!, I made some fashion collages in photoshop!. What do you think?!. I sorta felt like blogging today because, I put together this cute outfit inspired by ranch girls. Maybe not the kinds you have in mind but, go ahead and imagine I herd horses and stuff. Don’t blame my imagination, blame these great boots!. Ugh, look at that shine!.

Anyway, Wasabi pills released some new mesh hair today with pig tails. It’s like she read my mind!. I had been sorting through my “hair” folder in my inventory earlier in the day and whining about how much hair I had but yet I couldn’t seem to find the right one for this outfit I had just put together. Yeah, you know it’s time for an upgrade when you have so much to wear but just can’t seem to “see” anything to wear. Does that make sense?. WE NEED MORE MALE BLOGGERS IN SL!!.Annnddd, end rant. It’s been ages since I’ve done a blogger collarboration and since I enjoyed the last one I decided it was time for another!.

I think I can count the number of male bloggers there are in sl-who are actually male-on two hands. Of course, who can really blame them? Half of the merchandise in sl is geared towards females, except for, maybe that once a year make him over hunt there is barely anything out there for them. Which kinda sucks because, there are some men who actually put an effort into their looks and then, there are those who go the extra mile and blog about those looks. Hence, we just have to show our appreciation.

I got to meet up with Lorenzo Mixemup,blogger and owner of the blog Kid cocaine the other day! We got dressed, found a spot and took some shots!. Ohh that rhymed!. Anyway, I just have to THANK the kid because, for some reason my pc decided to bitch out ( Ha! no pun intended) and I literally crashed over 4 times before getting a snapshot in so, he ended up having to take most of the shot and during the entire time he was so patient and understanding. And in some ways I think that’s what blogging really takes. Patience.

Windlight settings :: Bree’s appleblossom

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged anything. Back to school, you get the drift. Anyway, while i was away I missed out on the premier of MESH across the grid but, I’m sure you probably got enough coverage on it ( I still kept myself up-to-date via flickr and fashion feeds). I however was a little skeptical on some of the items released. Luckily you can demo your outfit or whatever before you purchase it which I think is a nice addition because, sometimes a picture can exaggerate the goodness of things.

Here, I managed to collect two of my ( so far ) favorite mesh items. This hair by /Wasabi Pills/ and these thigh high pumps by Slink. The pumps I have to admit are exceptional!. I’ve always been a fan of thigh high boots except in sl (before) your best bet was to walk or stand because, once you sat down the beauty of your boots were out the window.

P.s :: I heard about the discontinuation of Kristen’s viewer and my heart dropped. So far I have been trying to tackle with the picture taking capabilities of the firestorm viewer and I can’t say I am remotely impressed. I really miss Kristen’s viewer and I hope something turns up to help us ( photographers/bloggers ) with our picture taking needs.

Collecting shoes.

You know that question people usually ask, “ If you were stuck on an island what are somethings you would like to have with you, that you can’t live without?” Why doesn’t anyone ever say shoes? Well, at least I’ve never heard anyone say they’d like to have a nice pair of shoes.

I’ve been collecting again dear friends, summer is nearly over and my “shoe” folder in world is nearly bursting at the seams. Finding the right pair of shoes in sl is like going through an old purse and finding a nips candy you had forgotten about  . Nips is my favorite candy, if you’re not a Nips kind of person, think of your favorite candy and apply it to the same scenario. Anyway, enough ado about nothing. Please note : This is by no means a “brag” post. There’s an astronomical difference between teasing and bragging.

Ever seen or purchased something in reallife and you wished you had the same item in secondlife? Well, guess what? It could probably happen!. Thanks to an awesome project started by Abra Exonar on flickr. It is called, the SL Please Make this group. ( click the link to learn more about the group, designers are all welcome! ). There is also an in-world group, join it HERE.

So of course, yours truly had a request . I added this picture to the group. ( I found it randomly months ago and held on to it hoping that one day I’ll find out who the artist was. )

I even uploaded it into sl and had it on display at my home for a while. Here’s an old snapshot of me posing with my cat Bella and the picture in the background.

Anyway, so long story short after posting it to the group, designer Mae Liamano creator of ( love )  decided to give it a shot. And, *heavenly bells* this is what it turned out like. Can you say gorgeous?

It should be officially released by tomorrow ( i.e: August 09 ). *Sighs* , who knew hair dreams could come true? * wipes off a tear *. Thank you so much, Mae Liamano. *sniffs some more *

It comes with a feathered piece which is separate from the hair and another version without bangs ( I am posing with the bangs version because that was my favorite ). There is also a HUD for the fatpack which has a wide range of colors. I really like how the pigtails turned out though I do wish there were more wisps, either way, Mae has done an altogether great job on the entire hair.

Windlight settings are your friend!.

Camming your avatar and taking a snapshot is a piece of cake!. But manipulating your environment settings can make a significant improvement in the way your image turns out. Most of these tips or tricks are general knowledge ( at least I think they are ) but, I wanted to share them anyway because, I am hopeful they will be useful to someone out there who is interested in giving their snapshots an interesting edge. Playing with your settings is heavily recommended! Here are some examples of different windlight settings I have used in the past.

( I started sharing my windlight settings recently so if you click the image it will take you to my flickr page where you will find a direct link to the post and the windlight used. )

While I still have a lot to learn when it comes to taking snapshots, I thought I’d share with you guys a few helpful tips I’ve picked up along the way. First things first!. You wanna collect windlight settings and install them. I suggest looking through one of the following.

1. Visit Linden Lab’s wiki page . There you will find an extensive overview of windlight settings and how to install them. Be sure to watch Torley Linden’s wonderful tutorials to see some “ need to knows” about windlight settings.

2. Visit Strawberry Singh’s website for an excellent collection of windlight settings along with links to other websites and downloads from other residents.

After you have installed your windlight settings and you are ready to experiment a little further begin here;

Step One.

( ZOOM )

I am using Kristen’s viewer S21 Version 6 ( See here; Mac or PC or LINUX ). You can also use any other viewer!. You will need to be able to pull up the environment editor menu on your viewer. Try, World >> Environment >> Environment editor ( or see the screenshot! ). Here you can manipulate your windlight settings to achieve the most out of your them.

Step Two.

( ZOOM )

In this step you will need to select Advanced sky from your Environmentor Editor’s window. Another window will pop up as seen above. Here is where you get access to all the windlight settings you have installed so far. For this post I will be using Elysiumeilde – Pinkpurplesunrise. Sometimes depending on the time of the day or where you are taking your snapshots in world you may or may not get the full effect of your windlight choice. That is where the tweaking comes in!.

Step Three.

( ZOOM )

In this step you will need to select the “lighting” tab from your advanced sky editor. Sometimes even after selecting your perfect windlight setting the environment may appear either too dark or your avatar’s face may end up looking harsh due to the lighting. I have found that using the Scene Gamma slider tends to either lighten ( higher than 0 ) or darken (at 0 ) your surroundings. Sometimes when it appears brighter the harsh lines seem to either blend in or disappear slightly.

Step Four.

( ZOOM )

This step is just a brief demonstration of what Scene Gamma can do. As you see, the image appears slightly clearer and brighter. Here is a little excerpt from Secondlife’s Wiki page giving you a brief description of what Scene Gamma really is/ does;

” This control functions similarly to the Gamma setting in the Graphics Hardware Settings (formerly Adv. Graphics) tab. It adjusts your screen’s distribution of light and dark output. Lower settings will cause everything to appear dim, while higher settings may make the scene look gray and “washed out”. Scene Gamma is more precise than the older Gamma in that it only affects your rendered view of the SL world- not the menus and rest of your computer’s screen.”

So, playing with your gamma is highly encouraged!!

Step five.

( ZOOM )

In this final step you can edit your SunMoon Position as well as the East Angle without actually “walking around to find good light or the sun“. Make the sun come to you! If only that were possible in realife. In this shot I had shadows enabled hence the shaded look. So viola! all in a days work! and no Photoshop needed except of course if you will be adding on text and cropping your images. That of course, is another entirely different tutorial.

I really like cybernetic looks and I think carrying swords is sexy so when I put this look together the other day ( yes, I have been walking around like this for a few days now ) I thought it was perfect but, when it came down to snapping the pictures, getting the perfect snapshot and location to get what I was trying to portray was damn near impossible.

Did I mention how much I love apple spice poses? Especially their action poses? I had to restrain myself yesterday while surfing through her collection but, I must say they were literally perfect for this sword.

Also, a good friend of mine, Onagh Ashbourne, who is an angel by the way filled me in on the new updates going on around sl. It seems like mesh will be rolling in really soon, by the end of August, are you ready?

In other news;

It’s awesome the things you discover on flickr just by browsing through it. It’s one of the only ways i update myself on what’s new in sl if I’ve been away for a while.

Anyway, I saw the skin I have on in this picture at lucifer luckless‘s stream and fell in love with the softness of the face. It’s still in beta and he’s doing a lot of tweaking so he’s looking for feedback and, I volunteered! and even modded my shape to create a face out of it.
